Day 12 - Watering during the big heat wave (6 July)

Tomatoes are progressing really well ... none were wilting & it's
not rained in a week (good to know they can be left this long)...

The basils are getting dwarfed by the huge tomatoes ... maybe it
wasn't such a good idea to put them right in the middle! Hmmm ...

I took this to show how tall the tomatoes are already (at least 4 feet)

The herb garden - maybe next year I'll create a more formal space! Ya ...

Flox! I brought a big bunch home. It smells so nice. In the b/g
are the potatoes before I put the chicken wire cage around them and
dumped a huge amount of soiless mix over them ... and then a whole
bag of compost when it didn't look like barely enough to cover them!

I spent about 2 hours watering - everything looked fine but I thought I'd be proactive. It is supposed to rain again on Thursday evening or Friday. The soil did look like it was dry. How lucky we were to have a wet June and then to have this 5 day stretch of 33C heat without rain ... It is going to cool back down and be in the medium-high 20s after the rain.
